Abstract
Anime is one of the popular entertainment media from Japanese culture, the spread of Japanese popular culture in Indonesia has skyrocketed Since its first entry in the 1980s, Japanese anime has managed to attract the attention of a wide range of Indonesians through broadcasts on national television. This popularity continues to increase with the development of technology and internet access, which allows fans to enjoy anime through streaming platforms, especially among Gen Z people. One of the famous anime productions among the public is Studio Ghibli which has existed since 1985 by two animators Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata, in this study limited to 2 Anime films from Studio Ghibli's production, namely Whisper of The Heart and Ocean Waves which focus on 2 ghibli anime characters Seiji Amasawa and Taku Morisaki, These two characters were chosen because researchers wanted to explore how the reception of gen Z Surabaya in receiving messages and meanings in a TikTok creator account content @Delvinyauu, the content on the TikTok @Delvinyauu account as a form of representation of the style of dress used by the two ghibli anime characters Seiji Amasawa and Taku Morisaki. Using Stuart Hall's Reception analysis to find out how Gen Z Surabaya's meaning in accepting the ghibli anime dressing style on the TikTok @Delvinyauu account. This study resulted in the finding that the acceptance of Gen Z Surabaya's reception of the dressing style of ghibli anime characters, there were 4 informants in the dominant hegemonic position on the Seiji Amasawa character and 5 informants in the dominant hegemonic position on the Taku Morisaki character and I informant in the opposition position, while in the discussion of soft masculinity on ghibli anime characters 6 informants were in the dominant hegemonic position, in the discussion of ghibli anime outfit styling content on the TikTok @Delvinyauu account 6 informants were also in the dominant hegemonic position.
