Abstract
Briket arang adalah bahan bakar padat yang dapat digunakan sebagai sumber energi alternatif. Briket arang mengandung karbon dan mempunyai nilai kalor yang tinggi serta dapat menyala dalam waktu yang lama. Briket arang terbuat dari 2 bahan utama yakni serbuk biomassa padat yang telah dikarbonisasi dan bahan perekat. Salah satu bahan utamanya adalah arang tempurung kelapa serta tepung tapioka atau tepung kanji sebagai bahan perekatnya. Proses pembuatan briket dapat dilakukan dengan berbagai macam teknik, salah satunya menggunakan mesin pengepres tipe screw. Dalam jurnal ini peneliti mencoba untuk memperoleh data bagaimana dampak sudut kemiringan corong output dan rpm motor terhadap kepadatan serta karakteristik briket. Briket dibuat menggunakan mesin pengepres tipe screw dengan menggunakan variabel sudut 10º,15º,20º,25º,30º dan variabel putaran motor 50 rpm dan 70 rpm. Didapatkan nilai kepadatan tertinggi pada variabel sudut 10º pada kedua variabel rpm sebesar 0,85g/〖cm〗^3, nilai kalor tertinggi pada variabel sudut 30º pada kedua variabel rpm sebesar 7631,7329kal/g, kadar air terendah pada variabel sudut 25º pada variabel putaran motor 50 rpm sebesar 6,02%, serta dengan nilai shatter index 0% pada semua spesimen. Kata kunci: sudut kemiringan corong, rpm, briket arang tempurung kelapa, kepadatan, nilai kalor
