Abstract
Film as an artistic medium has the power to convey complex messages and move the audience's emotions through its narrative and cinematic elements. This research explores the beauty phenomenon in the film "200 Pounds Beauty" (2023), a remake of a popular Korean film, which adapts a Japanese comic to the comedy drama genre. This film tells the story of the journey of a woman named Juwita who, despite having extraordinary vocal talents, feels insecure because of her fat physical appearance. Her life was influenced by social stereotypes about ideal beauty that made her feel marginalized. This study uses a content analysis approach to explore how this film shows the concept of women's beauty, which is often measured in physical terms such as weight, body shape and other physical appearances. The film highlights the social pressures women experience to conform to unrealistic beauty standards, as well as the psychological and emotional impact of rejecting physical appearances that do not conform to the norm. The results of this research show that the film "200 Pounds Beauty" (2023) is a reflection of the social complexity in the construction of women's identity and how mass media, including films, can strengthen or challenge existing beauty stereotypes. This research provides in-depth insight into how the representation of beauty in films can influence society's perception of women's self- worth and social acceptance
