Abstract

This study examines the public relations strategies employed by 17th August 1945 University (Untag) Surabaya to disseminate information during the 2023 New Student Orientation Program (PKKMB) through online media. Utilizing branding strategy theories and a qualitative descriptive method, data was gathered through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings reveal that Untag Surabaya employed a multifaceted public relations approach to disseminate information during PKKMB 2023 via online media. This strategy encompassed the utilization of social media, the official university website, and collaborations with mass media to reach a broader audience. Untag's public relations team also optimized engaging visual content and narratives to enhance engagement. The effectiveness of Untag Surabaya's public relations strategies is evident in the abundance of news coverage about PKKMB 2023 published across various online media platforms, particularly highlighting the university's commitment to environmental sustainability and educating students about their role in environmental conservation. This demonstrates the success in raising visibility and awareness of PKKMB activities among the general public and reinforcing the university's positive image.
