Abstract

This research discusses how Communication Science students show their impressions on Tiktok social media. By uploading videos and photos shared by UNTAG Communication Science students, students can manage the impressions they want to show to the public just by utilizing various interesting features. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method. The focus of this research is to see how UNTAG Surabaya Communication Science students impress themselves on Tiktok social media. Apart from that, this research uses the impression management theory proposed by Erving Goffman, the aim is to describe the impression management of UNTAG Surabaya Communication Science students through the five impression management strategies proposed by Jones and Pitman. Meanwhile, the results of the research show that UNTAG Communication Science students have quite a variety of ways to upload video and photo content to their personal accounts. And of the five impression management strategies proposed by Jones and Pitman, Communication Science students tend to use the impression management strategy of ingratiation. This is because communication science students tend to create content related to self�enhancement. Communication science students try to show their digital activities by behaving well and positively (favor doing).
