Abstract

Early detection of earthquakes is important, especially in areas that are vulnerable to seismic activity, such as volcanoes. Research on early earthquake detection has grown rapidly, but most of this research has focused on one particular analysis method. Therefore, this research was conducted to combine two methods, STA/LTA and SVM, in the context of seismic signal classification, especially those originating from volcanoes. The aim of this research is the Short-Term Average/Long-Term Average (STA/LTA) algorithm in processing seismic signal data and the Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm in classifying seismic signals. The methodological steps involve collecting seismic data from volcanoes in Indonesia, processing the data, and dividing the data into training and test sets. The implementation of the SVM method was carried out on both data sets, with evaluation and classification results. It is hoped that this research can make a significant contribution to the development of an early detection system that is more sophisticated and has proven its reliability. It is hoped that a better understanding of seismic phenomena can guide the development of technology capable of identifying and classifying seismic signals with a high degree of accuracy.
