Abstract

Indonesia berada di daerah khatulistiwa dengan iklim tropis menyebabkan tingginya sambaran petir. Sambaran petir ini dapat menimbulkan kerusakan elektronik dan membahayakan manusia, sehingga diperlukan sistem proteksi petir. Sistem proteksi petir terdiri dari terminasi udara yang berfungsi menangkap sambaran petir dalam radius tertentu. Kabel penyalur kemudian mengalirkan arus dan tegangan dari terminasi udara ke sistem pembumian, yang menetralkan arus dan tegangan ke tanah.Gedung SMP Negeri 12 Wringinanom belum memiliki sistem penyalur petir, pada bangunan dengan ketinggian lebih dari satu lantai memerlukan proteksi untuk menghindari bahaya akibat sambaran petir. Penelitian ini membahas perencanaan sistem penyalur petir eksternal pada gedung SMP Negeri 12 Wringinanom Gresik yang terdiri dari dua gedung dan satu musala, masing-masing memiliki lebih dari satu lantai dan belum terlindungi dari petir.Berdasarkan survei dan pengukuran, gedung ini sangat dianjurkan untuk memasang sistem proteksi petir. Hasil pengukuran resistansi tanah sebesar 7,31 Ω pada kedalaman 150 cm dengan rod berdiameter 14 mm tidak memenuhi standar. Berdasarkan perhitungan model sudut proteksi, gedung lantai 2 A memerlukan 4 penyalur, lantai 2 B memerlukan 2 penyalur, dan musala memerlukan 1 penyalur. Untuk sistem pembumian, setiap gedung membutuhkan 4 rod yang dipasang pada kedalaman 1,5 meter dengan jarak minimum antar rod 2 meter, sehingga didapatkan nilai resistansi tanah sebesar 2,46 Ω yang sudah memenuhi standar Peraturan Umum Instalasi Listrik.
