Abstract
Many wifi internet users do not know about the theft of wift itself because it is very difficult to detect the perpetrators of these theft. In fact, when viewed the comparison is the same as ordinary theft where the victim is materially disadvantaged and in this case the loss of the victim in the form of purchasing WiFi internet access services. By using the normative juridical methodology, namely research conducted by examining library materials, The main objective in this study is to find out about legal protection for consumers who are victims of accessing wireless internet networks by people who are not entitled and regarding the accountability of internet service providers and related parties for leakage of consumer wireless internet networks and also to solve in this case. Benefits of this research for the development of legal science and is expected to be useful and provide input on all forms of rules and legal protection for consumers who are victims of accessing wireless internet networks by unauthorized people carried out by related parties and can find out about the responsibilities of internet service providers. Types of research use normative juridical methods that are prescriptive with the legislation method (Statue Approach) and conceptual approaches (conceptual approach). Using primary and secondary legal materials by inventorying and conducting literature studies and using prescriptive legal material analysis techniques. The results of the study found that legal protection for consumers who were victims of accessing wireless internet networks by unauthorized people, the category of acts of wifi internet theft by related parties according to criminal law based on article 362 of the Criminal Code. Article 30 paragraph (1), (2), and (3) Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions, as well as for the responsibilities of internet service providers can be subject to compensation according to civil law regulated in Article 1365 to with Article 1380 of the Civil Code. And also violates the rights of consumers in Article 5 paragraph (1), Article 21 paragraph (1), Article 27, and Article 33 of the Consumer Protection Act.
