Abstract

This research aims to find out how therapeutic communication between psychotherapists and child patients addicted to online games uses the role of narrative at several stages at the EHCP Indonesia Clinic Sugihwaras Sidoarjo Regency and find out how social support is provided by parents when child patients addicted to online games are at home in an effort to heal. The type of research used by researchers is descriptive with a case study method to obtain detailed data from psychotherapists at the Indonesian EHCP Clinic Sugihwaras Sidoarjo Regency and parents of child patients addicted to online games. Data collection techniques through interviews, documentation and observation. The results of this research show that narratives in therapeutic communication in efforts to cure child patients addicted to online games play a role in gathering information and providing motivation at the pre-interaction stage, as well as conveying the negative impacts of online game addiction and conveying a sense of empathy at the pre-orientation stage. At the work stage, the techniques used by psychotherapists when child patients tell stories are listening techniques, questioning techniques, acceptance techniques, clarification techniques and reflection techniques. Social support from parents is also needed in efforts to cure child patients who are addicted to online games when they are at home. This social support is in the form of emotional support, appreciation support, real support and information support.
