Abstract
This study aims to determine the organizational communication barriers experienced by Scorpion Tour Surabaya tour leaders in an effort to improve tour leader performance based on factors that cause organizational communication barriers and the interaction process analysis theory by Robert Bales. This research uses a qualitative approach and is descriptive in nature with data collection techniques based on interviews, observation and documentation. The research results show that the Scorpion Tour Surabaya communication factor shows that there are obstacles between members, both the owner and the tour leader and of course between the tour leader and the tour leader. This is shown in the process of sharing information that occurred during the tour, which was carried out well but was not optimal due to lack of concentration, which caused obstacles. Furthermore, the tension factor was shown when there was a conflict with fellow tour leaders, there was one of the tour leaders who showed a dramatic attitude which caused obstacles in the Scorpion Tour Surabaya. Meanwhile, the other four factors show a positive attitude by being friendly, agreeing, giving each other opinions and suggestions. This is included in the interaction process analysis theory by Robert Bales so that these factors have little potential to cause communication barriers on the Scorpion Tour Surabaya.
