Abstract
This research aims to describe the communication patterns that occur within the SMAN 16 Surabaya supporters group or what is usually called CASPER. This research uses Shaw's theory of group communication patterns. The communication pattern based on this research is a group of individuals who can influence each other, obtain some satisfaction from each other, interact for several purposes, bond with each other and communicate face to face. Communication patterns within a supporter group need to be identified due to the emergence of the phenomenon of stopping the football league in Indonesia. The phenomenon of hiatus in football league activities in Indonesia has had an impact on the supporter group, where one of the components in the group is student level supporters. The data in this research was collected using interview techniques and participant observation. The findings of this research are (1) The communication pattern that occurs in CASPER itself uses an all-way communication pattern (2) The group communication that occurs in CASPER produces results where members can understand or appreciate the feelings of other members. (3) In the CASPER group, it was also found that they also used primary, secondary and linear communication patterns in the process. In this research, the identification of the communication patterns of the SMAN 16 Surabaya supporter group aims to understand the relationship and vision of the group itself.
