Abstract

The University of 17 August 1945 Surabaya is an educational institution that brands its industry as a nationalist campus. This branding has existed since Untag Surabaya was founded. One of the flagship programs of Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka or MBKM is the Pertukaran Mahasiswa Merdeka program (PMM), where in this program there is a mandatory activity, namely the Modul Nusantara. Modul Nusantara was designed and adapted to the characteristics of each recipient university. Hence, this research aims to identify how the Modul Nusantara is implemented in strengthening the image of Untag Surabaya as a nationalist campus and what steps are taken to strengthen this image. This research is qualitative, this research comes from interviews and observations. Interviews were conducted with Untag Surabaya's people who are members of this program and will then be compared with students participating in the PMM program. This research uses impression management theory from Jones and Pittman and analyzes the types of images according to Frank Jenkins. Because this concerns a large institution such as Untag Surabaya, researchers think that this program is interesting to research, because this program will give an impression to students who come from outside Java.
