Abstract
The research explains the effect of changes in warehouse layout on controlling the smooth running of a company or factory. The storage of finished products at PT Tjakrindo Mas has an irregular arrangement, causing a pile of goods that are not in accordance with the type so that during the retrieval process using a forklift there are difficulties due to the area that is not large so that it must be assisted with a hand pallet to carry the product to a wider area so that it can be reached by a forklift. That way it will waste a lot of time just because of the difficulty of wanting to transport goods. The method to be applied in the storage arrangement is the shared storage method, organised by placing finished products based on the FIFO (First In First Out) principle. This will minimise transport time as well as ensure efficient use of space. The design results show that the calculation of Material Transfer Distance Before Re Layout is 37,528 m, after a new calculation is obtained at 12,648 m, where the difference in distance obtained is 24,880 m. Then, designing a Microsot Access-based database for the inventory system aims to monitor and manage finished product stocks. The purpose of this research is to design a suitable warehouse layout by applying the shared storage method and design a database for the Microsoft Access-based inventory system. By implementing this design, PT Tjakrindo Mas is expected to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of warehouse operations.
