Abstract

Chicken farming is a business that aims to maintain and breed chickens with the aim of gaining profits and benefits from these activities. In chicken farming, broiler chickens are taken for their meat, while laying hens are kept for their eggs, and when they can no longer lay eggs, they are usually used as broiler chickens. This business involves buying and selling chickens from chicks to broodstock, because it is easy to breed and grows relatively quickly compared to other businesses, and has high potential due to the high consumption of chickens and eggs in society at affordable prices. A chicken pellet molding machine is a tool used to produce chicken feed pellets with a composition that can be adjusted according to needs. The use of this machine increases feeding efficiency by producing pellets that are easier for chickens to digest. The development of this technology, starting from mixing machines to the 2 in 1 concept for mixing and molding pellets simultaneously, has been carried out to increase the efficiency of chicken feed production. The research results show that making your own pellet printing machine in livestock SMEs is more efficient than purchasing ready-to-eat feed, providing significant advantages in controlling production costs. SMEs can optimize raw materials and production processes, producing quality pellets according to the desired standards. Lower operating cost differences increase profitability, providing a competitive advantage in the industry. Operational cost efficiency is calculated by subtracting the cost of purchasing feed from the cost of making feed, resulting in a difference of Rp. 629,000 per day and Rp. 18,870,000 per month. This represents major savings in the short term, strengthening the company's financial foundation. From the results of the analysis carried out, the investment in designing a chicken pellet printing machine is said to be feasible with the depreciation value of the pellet printing machine being IDR. 230,000 per month. With a loan interest of 1% for 12 months, the ROR value reaches IDR. 528,000. Cost savings per month of Rp. 18,870,000 provides significant profits. NPV is calculated at interest rates of 1% and 2%, each resulting in Rp. 265,933,291 and Rp. 235,442,650 with the resulting ROR being 9.7% per month or 116.4% per year which exceeds the MARR of 15%, indicating that the investment in this machine is very worthy. The Profitability Index is 45.32, which means the investment is much greater than 1, so it is very profitable. The payback period is 0.58 months, which shows that the investment will be returned in less than one month, making this a very efficient and profitable investment for livestock SMEs.
