Abstract

Sandblasting is a cleaning process by shooting particles (sand) onto a material surface, causing friction or collisions. The surface of the material will be clean and rough. The things that determine the results of the sandblasting process include the human factor, the air pressure when firing, the sand powder used, the shooting time, and the shooting distance. This study uses pressure variations, cleanliness Sa and roughness testing, hardness with ASTM A36 steel material measuring 50mm x 50mm x 6mm, with pressure variables of 5, 6, 7 Bar and Sa 2, 2 ½, 3. this study got different data for each variable where at the pressure of 5 Bar Sa 2, 2 ½, 3 and 6 bar Sa 2, 2 ½, 3 it was unreliable because the repetition of taking this data was less consistent with the many factors that occurred in field and for 7 bar Sa 2.2 ½. 3 gets a consistent value. And conclusion can be obtained, it was stated that there was a change in the roughness and hardness values with the initial roughness value before sandblasting, namely 3.599 um. For the lowest roughness value is in the 6 bar Sa 2 variation with an average roughness value of 22.18 um, while for the high roughness value it is in the 7 bar variation with cleanliness Sa 3 with a roughness value of 33.66 um and the initial hardness value before in sandblasting that is 89.6 HRB. For high hardness values it is at a pressure of 6 bar Sa 3 with an average hardness value of 94.94 HRB, while for low hardness values it is at a pressure of 5 bar Sa 2½ with an average hardness value of 89.71 HRB which is significant in material before the sandblasting process and after the sandblasting process.
