Abstract

Conformity is an individual's attempt to change his attitudes and behavior with the aim of conforming to his group. Consumptive behavior is an act of excessive purchasing of a product or service without considering its benefits. This research aims to determine the relationship between conformity and consumptive fashion purchasing behavior among student TikTok users. This research uses quantitative correlational methods. Sampling in this study used the accidental sampling method and as many as 181 students using Tiktok at the University of 17 August 1945 Surabaya were sampled. Data collection in this research used Google from, with a conformity scale and a consumer behavior scale. Data analysis in this study used the Pearson Product Moment correlation test technique and obtained r = 0.176 with a significance of 0.018 (p<0.05). This means that the hypothesis in this study which assumes there is a positive relationship between conformity and consumptive fashion purchasing behavior among students who use TikTok is accepted. This means that the higher the conformity carried out by students, the higher their consumptive behavior.
