Abstract

Using social media is a necessity in this millennial era. This is driven by individuals preferring to play social media in their daily activities so that these individuals feel they have achieved psychological well-being. Addiction in the use of social media itself is a desire that someone continuously wants to do to get pleasure and comfort. This study aims to determine the relationship between addiction to the use of social media on psychological well-being. In terms of individuals when using social media will feel happy and their psychological happiness is fulfilled. This study uses a correlational quantitative method. The subjects used in this study were late adolescents aged 16-18 years and had more than 2 social media with a total research sample of 144 respondents. The measuring instrument used for addiction to social media use with psychological well-being is product moment analysis. The data generated from product moment analysis shows a coefficient value of 0.398. with a significance value of 0.001 (p < 0.001). The results show that there is a positive and very significant correlation between addiction to the use of social media with psychological well-being in late adolescents. Adolescents who experience addiction in the use of social media have many causes, one of which is looking for fun, looking for friends who understand their situation so that they can have fun.
