Abstract

Management accounting is one way to provide information in choosing alternatives that can be useful for companies in making the right decisions so as not to experience losses. In carrying out production activities at the PT Sinar Mutiara Miru business, which in carrying out its operational activities often receives special orders from customers, it is necessary to carry out differential cost analysis in the production process which will be used for decision making. The aim of this research is to determine the role of management accounting in making short-term decisions to accept or reject special orders at PT Sinar Mutiara Miru. The research used in this research is qualitative research with a descriptive approach. Descriptive research method is research that is descriptive and tends to use analysis. Process and meaning (subject perspective) are more emphasized in qualitative research. In the form of a production cost calculation table to determine cost comparisons in making decisions or accepting special orders. The research results show that management has not implemented differential cost analysis in decision making. The results of the differential cost analysis are very useful for PT Sinar Mutiara Miru because the company can still cover the differential costs of special orders, besides that the company also gets an additional differential profit of IDR 1,400,000 as long as there is still idle capacity.
