Abstract

Late adolescence is the period of consolidation into adulthood, characterized by a high interest in intellectual functions and an ego to unite with others. Late adolescents are concerned with their appearance and increase their popularity in society. It causes the emergence of impulsive buying among late adolescents. Adolescents in Indonesia were also not spared from impulsive buying due to the need to own certain items in order to be accepted by the group. Individuals nowadays have the tendency to adapt to their surroundings or groups, seeking to fit in the circles of friends through the practice of conformity. In adolescents, the aforementioned behaviors will lead them to a hedonistic lifestyle. The objective of this study is to uncover the relationship between conformity and hedonistic lifestyles with impulsive buying behavior. A quantitative approach was utilized in this study with a sample size of 174 subjects, conducted through the purposive sampling method. The calculation using multiple regression analysis indicates the relationship between conformity and hedonistic lifestyles with impulsive buying. Furthermore, there is a relationship between conformity with impulsive buying and between hedonistic lifestyles with impulsive buying. The effective contribution of conformity and hedonistic lifestyles provides a 59.7% impact on impulsive buying.
