Abstract

Individuals experiencing self-discrepancy are likely to experience psychological impacts, namely negative emotions associated with feelings of sadness and guilt. This research aims to determine whether there is a relationship between self-acceptance and self-discrepancy among roleplayer users. The study population consists of members of the roleplaying community called "Galaxy of Roleplayer" on the Telegram application, totaling 300 people. The research participants amounted to 170 individuals obtained through purposive sampling. Participant criteria included being a roleplayer for a minimum of 6 months and aged between 13-17 years old. Research data was collected using Pearson product-moment correlation. The results of the data analysis showed a correlation coefficient score of -0.698 (p <0.01), indicating a highly significant negative relationship. This means that the higher the level of self-acceptance possessed by an individual, the lower the likelihood of that individual experiencing self-discrepancy. Conversely, if an individual has a lower level of self-acceptance, there is a higher likelihood of experiencing self-discrepancy.
