Abstract

PT. Trijaya Grafika Solutindo is a service company engaged in the graphics industry. With many printing industries that cannot provide printing services until the finishing stage, the finishing division was opened. The finishing division focuses on printing finishing services in the form of coating, laminating, and spot uv services. In the spot uv production process, the defective level of the product still exceeds the tolerance limit given by the company by 2%. There are two types of product defects, namely not regist and backside spot. This study uses the Plan Do Check Action (PDCA) method with the aim of knowing quality control solutions to reduce the level of defects of spot uv products and also aims to determine how much loss is caused by defects of spot uv products before and after quality control. The Plan stage uses a pareto chart followed by Ishikawa Fishbone Chart to determine the dominant product defects and the cause and effect of defective products. The Do stage is the application of the improvement plan with the 5W + 1H method. Followed by the Check stage using the P-Control Chart method. The Action stage is standardization to prevent the occurrence of similar product defects in the future. From the results of calculation and analysis of defects, not regist products are the dominant product defects with a percentage of 66.8%. There are four factors that affect product defects, namely man, method, material, and machine. This is overcome by updating the SOP for material acceptance because material is the main factor in the product defect. Product losses for the eight months before the implementation of the proposal amounted to Rp. 7,689,576.08 with an average loss of Rp. 961,197.01 per month. And after the implementation of the proposal for three months, the loss caused by defects in spot uv products amounted to Rp.1,896,698.59 for three months. With an average loss of Rp. 632,232.86 per month.
