Abstract

The communication pattern that occurs in the production process of television news coverage occurs in a linear and primary manner and the process of reporting or extracting data from sources of course requires an effective interpersonal communication approach, namely using the interpersonal communication approach by Josep A Devito, namely openness, empathy, empathy, supportiveness, support. Positive Sense of Positiveness, and Equality. As mass media has become the mainstream of society for seeking information, the Uncertainty Reduction Theory put forward by Charles Berger in Littlejohn 1999, explains that humans have difficulty with uncertainty, so humans are encouraged to seek information about other people. Charles Berger said that in an effort to obtain information There are several strategies, namely: Passive strategy is to make observations, Active Strategy requires individuals to do something to get information, and Interactive Strategy relies heavily on communication with other people. So this research uses qualitative data collection techniques using in-depth interviews, observation and documentation. From the results of this research, it was found that basically the TVRI East Java news reporter experienced the problem of a lack of human resources, so that as a reporter he served as a cameraman, producer, editing person, until the news process was completed. The findings from this research are the formation of a news coordinator, so that reporters communication patterns in news production are planned or scheduled every day and hour.
