Abstract

Television in Indonesia is a mass media that continues to develop from the initial use of analog television, until the shift to digital television. This is caused by the rapid development of technology. One sign of this technological transition is the implementation of government regulations, namely analog switch off (ASO), which requires all stations to turn off analog broadcasts and switch to digital broadcasts. JTV Surabaya as a research object experienced a broadcast transformation from analog to digital broadcasts. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods to obtain in-depth results. In this theory, what is used as a basis is the theory of mediamorphosis, which is a theory that originates from Computer Mediated Communication (CMC) as the main theory. Mediamorphosis theory, according to Fidler, explains how media can transform into a new form. This is based on three concepts, namely coevolution, convergence and complexity. JTV Surabaya's coevolution is the use of digital language through computer devices operated in digital broadcasting. Then the convergence is carried out by broadcasting or streaming using an internet-based platform. Then the last thing is complexity, which is the factor in JTV Surabaya's transformation. These factors include technological developments, competition and ASO.
