Abstract

Movies are used as a medium to convey messages in visual form. In this way, movies become a more accessible and effective way for people to receive messages. The title of Koesno's movie, Jati Diri Soekarno, was raised by researchers on the concept of Javanese Islam and the concept of Class Struggle. The researcher is of the opinion that studies of Sukarno within the framework of the concepts of Javanese Islam and Class Struggle tend to have weaknesses, hence this research was conducted. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to clarify the results of the analysis of the depiction of Javanese Islam and class struggle in the documentary film Koesno, Jati Diri Soekarno. The research method used is qualitative and constructivist paradigm. The unit of analysis in this research is Koesno's film, which is the whole identity of Sukarno as the object of study. Data analysis in this research uses the framing analysis model of William A. Gamson's framing analysis model which focuses on exploring framing devices and idea devices. The results obtained by researchers are related to the reality of Islam in Java and class struggle in the movie "Koesno, Jati Diri Soekarno". The researcher found three depictions in the movie. 1.) Representation of Javanese Islam behind the movie Koesno, Jati Diri Soekarno, 2.) Representation of class struggle behind the movie Koesno, Jati Diri Soekarno, 3.) Representation of nationalism behind the movie Koesno, Jati Diri Soekarno. The conclusion of this research is that the documentary film "Koesno, Jati Diri Soekarno" is a depiction of conditions that are thick with past events reminding how hard the struggle for independence was. As well as leadership that prioritizes the interests of the country's people rather than the interests of certain groups.
