Abstract

This study aims to determine the interpersonal communication activities carried out by Scorpion Tour Surabaya tour leaders in building tour participant satisfaction based on the stages of interpersonal communication and communication goals theory. This research uses descriptive qualitative research with data collection techniques based on interviews, observation, and documentation. The results showed that the contact stage of the Scorpion Tour Surabaya tour leader began by giving a welcome or greeting and showing the tour leader's identity. Furthermore, the involvement stage, the tour leader shows relational goals by increasing the intensity of communication, building an atmosphere, and showing attention and care. At the stage of familiarity, interpersonal communication activities carried out by tour leaders are openness to communicate and the use of informal verbal language and humorous communication. In addition to this, this study found indicators of tour participants' satisfaction with interpersonal communication activities carried out by Scorpion Tour Surabaya tour leaders based on the quality of services provided by tour leaders which include Reability, Responsiveness, Assurance, Empathy, and Tangible.
