Abstract
A nurse is someone who has graduated from higher education in nursing, both at home and abroad, which is recognized by the government in accordance with statutory regulations. The existence of legal protection for nurses in carrying out health services is a basis or regulation for nurses to carry out their duties and responsibilities. The aim of this research is to determine the legality of nurses in providing health services and the protection of nurses in providing health services to patients. So that adequate and fair health services can be achieved. The research method used is normative legal research using a statutory approach, conceptual approach and historical approach. Based on this research, it is stated that the legality of a nurse in carrying out health services is when a nurse has authority over the delegation given by a doctor, and procedurally a nurse is required to have a Registration Certificate and Practice Permit. The legal protection received by nurses is a form of external and internal protection, that externally a nurse is protected by statutory regulations and there are efforts to resolve disputes over cases that occur in health services carried out by nurses, and internally legal protection is provided because A nurse is a health worker who receives a mandate and delegation from a medical worker so that the person responsible if there is an act of medical negligence in the nursing health service is the medical worker who gives the mandate and delegation.
