Abstract

Human resources are the main asset of educational institutions in improving service quality and accreditation. Therefore, optimizing the workforce is the key to the success of an agency. With the increasing number of prospective students and campus admission quotas every year, quite a few employees feel bored when doing their work. One of the factors that influences employee performance is workload. If employee workloads are not appropriate or equal, problems will arise. For example, there are employees who have overloaded or underloaded workloads. This kind of problem also occurs at one of the Surabaya Private Universities, therefore this research aims to calculate the percentage of employee workload and find out the standard time for completing work and the ideal number of workers for the Surabaya Private University engineering faculty based on workload. So the results research can be used to determine whether there will be additional or reduced staff. The method used Work Sampling to calculate the number of educational staff needed to complete certain tasks The sample in this study was educational staff at one of the Surabaya Private Universities. Data collection techniques in this research used direct observation . The results of this research show that the highest workload percentage is 57.28% and the lowest employee workload percentage is 23.31% with the highest standard time required to produce one activity output being 8.45 minutes and the lowest at 7.59 minutes.
