Abstract

Conflicts in participation decision-making are often experienced by the community in giving their voting rights in the presidential election, especially for those who are novice voters. The purpose of this study is to examine empirically the relationship between perceptions of leader figures and political beliefs with conflict of decision-making participation in the 2019 presidential election to beginner voters. The subjects of this study were 105 students of class XII of MAN 1 Mojosari Mojokerto. Research data is collected through the scale of conflict decision-making participation, scale of perception of leader figures, and scale of political trust. The hypothesis in this study is that there is a negative relationship between perceptions of leader figures and conflict decision making, and there is a negative relationship between political trust and decision-making conflict. The results of Spearman-Rho analysis showed that there was no significant negative relationship between perceptions of leader figures and conflict of decision-making participation (r = 0.499 p = 0,000 <0.05), meaning that the more positive perceptions of leader figures, the higher the decision-making participation conflict there is a relationship between political trust and participation decision-making conflict (r = 0.023 P = 0.812> 0.05).
