Abstract

The development of technology and information in the current era is increasing rapidly and has a significant impact on someone's lifestyle, behavior, and communication. This is also associated with the impact of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which has lasted for two years, where learning activities are conducted online using technological devices such as smartphones or laptops. This issue has a long-term effect, namely excessive smartphone usage or what can be called smartphone addiction. Moreover, in more severe cases, some students neglect those around them because they are more focused on their smartphones, which is referred to as "phubbing" or phone snubbing. This study aims to determine the relationship between smartphone addiction and leisure boredom with phubbing behavior among teenagers. The subjects of this study consisted of 196 students from SMPN 1 Tulangan. The research method uses a quantitative approach with multiple regression analysis techniques. Based on the results obtained from SPSS version 24 for Windows, smartphone addiction contributed 42.50% and leisure boredom contributed 11.90% of phubbing behavior. The remaining percentage was influenced by other variables. This indicates a positive relationship between smartphone addiction,leisure boredom, and phubbing behavior among teenagers at SMPN 1 Tulangan.
