Abstract

Early adulthood is a period filled with emotional tension because during this period, individuals experience many changes. Developmental tasks that are very different from previous stages of development require individuals to adapt to new life patterns. These demands create tremendous pressure that causes individuals to experience stress and feelings of helplessness, thus affecting the meaning of the individual's life, which allows the urge to self-harm as a way to express negative emotions. Thus it is crucial to research. This study aimed to determine the relationship between self-forgiveness and the meaningfulness of life in early adulthood nonsuicidal self-injury. This study uses a quantitative approach with correlational methods. The population in this study were 185 subjects involved in self-harm behavior without any motive for suicide (nonsuicidal self-injury) and aged 18-25 years. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling. The results of this study obtained a correlation coefficient of 0.914 and a significance value (p) = 0.000 <0.05, so the conclusion that there is a very significant positive relationship between self-forgiveness and the meaningfulness of life in early adulthood perpetrators of selfharm (nonsuicidal self-injury).
