Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between self-concept and the assertive behavior of psychology students at the University of 17 August 1945 Surabaya. The hypothesis put forward is that there is a positive relationship between self-concept and assertive behavior in psychology students at the University of 17 August 1945 Surabaya. The research design uses a correlational quantitative research method. The study was conducted on 191 participants with an age range of 18-25 years who were psychology students at the University of August 17 1945 Surabaya class of 2019 and 2020. The instrument used in this study was the Assertive Behavior scale according to the theory of Alberti and Emmons (2002) and the self-concept scale according to with the theory of Calhoun and Acocella (1995). The data obtained were analyzed using the Spearman rho correlation technique with the help of SPSS 25 for Windows. Based on the results of the data analysis that has been done, it is found that there is a positive and very significant relationship between self-concept and assertive behavior.
