Abstract

Indonesia since there has been a change in the electoral system from year to year until finally it has chosen a threshold presidential system in its constitutional practice. Until now, the Presidential Threshold has become a public discussion because there is a threshold that is considered irrelevant by the public, giving rise to pros and cons regarding the presidential nomination threshold in the general election in Indonesia. The Presidential Threshold is considered to be less effective in the presidential system, thereby eliminating the rights of citizens to nominate themselves and propose to become candidates or to provide solutions to reduce the percentage threshold of the Presidential Threshold that occurs in Indonesia. This method uses legal research and library research with a normative research system in which the approach is through laws and regulations combined with a conceptual approach and utilizes secondary qualitative data. The results of this study itself aim to find out the dynamics of the history of political parties in Indonesia and what if the simplification of political parties has been implemented through simultaneous elections and selection of political parties conducted by the General Election Commission. The conclusion from this discussion is the urgency of eliminating the Presidential Threshold in the presidential system in Indonesia as an effective way to strengthen the presidential system
