Abstract

Currently, cats are widely loved as pets. For cat owners, ensuring the health of their pets is essential. However, just like humans, cats can also be susceptible to diseases, especially viral infections. Cats have their own immune system, but if their immunity is weak, they can easily contract viral diseases. Many cat owners struggle to handle their sick cats, and unfortunately, some of their pets die without a clear cause. The lack of available veterinarians in certain areas is also a contributing factor to the difficulty in consulting about a cat's illness. Based on the aforementioned issues, the author proposes a solution by creating an expert system that adopts knowledge from veterinary experts and applies it to a computer system. This expert system utilizes the certainty factor method to solve problems and strengthen diagnostic results. The assessment of experts and the selection of symptoms by consultants who provide consultations influence the diagnostic outcomes of the expert system that employs the certainty factor method. It is hoped that this expert system can assist cat owners in independently diagnosing their cats and provide appropriate solutions based on the diagnosis for early intervention before seeking further treatment at a clinic.
