Abstract

The scholarship is a form of financial aid provided to individuals, including students and college students, to support their education. In each new academic year, Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya opens a program for new students who want to pursue their education at the university. The scholarship programs were available at Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya include KIP-Kuliah scholarship, Academic and Non-Academic Achievement scholarships, and other scholarship programs. Due to the large number of new students applying for scholarships to help cover the costs of their studies, the student affairs and alumni department must be selective in selecting scholarship recipients. The selection process conducted by the department is still done manually, by comparing the data of scholarship applicants one by one. This process takes a considerable amount of time and is not effective. To assist in the scholarship selection process, a decision support system is needed to avoid errors in the selection by comparing the data of applicants one by one. The decision support system is built using the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method, implemented on a web platform. The system is developed using the Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP) programming language with the Codeigniter framework. The basic concept of the SAW method is to find the sum of weights from performance ratings on all attributes of each alternative.
