Abstract

Rusunawa is housing for low-income people whose monthly payments are enforced for residents with shared use and shared facilities and built in a vertical direction for cities with high population density and built in big cities that are densely populated because it is difficult to own a house. Surabaya is a city with one of the largest population and is a city with a high population density because land prices are relatively expensive, making it difficult for low-income people (MBR). Rusunawa is the solution for this and improves city infrastructure and makes it easier for the community. Rusunawa Sombo itself is the oldest flat built by the Surabaya city government to overcome the slums in the Simolawang Village, Simokerto District. With the rusunawa, it is hoped that it will be able to meet the needs of livable housing for the local community. However, as time goes by, Rusunawa Sombo becomes seedy due to several influencing factors, for this reason, repairs to the facade and residential units are needed so that residents have a livable place to live. The Surabaya City Government provides a budget for repairs to the oldest flats, so it is important to know how the comfort and needs of the residents of the flats are according to the occupants' perceptions by carrying out a survey of residents and locations to obtain accurate data. With this data, it can be formulated with the enactment of this redesign which is the answer to the perceptions of residents or the needs of residents. Keywords – Flats; densely populated; Surabaya.
