Abstract

Netflix is a TV, documentary and movie streaming service provider that requires its subscribers to follow the terms and conditions before using the application such as, using Netflix privately and non-commercially or prohibited from duplicating, distributing, selling content from or through Netflix services. However, there are people who violate by duplicating, distributing and selling Netflix accounts through social media and making personal use of these economic rights. This is an issue related to Copyright protection under the law on an application program that is misused by other parties. The problems that will be examined in this thesis are first, the act of selling Netflix accounts through social media is a violation of Copyright second, the form of losses incurred against Netflix Copyright infringement third, the form of legal protection against the act of selling Netflix accounts illegally. The purpose of this thesis research, namely to analyze the act of selling illegal Netflix accounts through social media, know and understand the form of losses incurred and understand the form of legal protection against the act of selling Netflix accounts illegally. The literature review in writing this thesis includes several substances, namely Legal Protection which consists of the definition of legal protection, and forms of legal protection. The result of the discussion is that Netflixis an intellectual work in the form of a computer program protected by copyright. Unauthorized distributors copy without permission from the Copyright Holder and gain economic benefits from sales through social media.
