Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between self-confidence and social adjustment in grade 7 students of SMPN 62 Surabaya. Self-confidence is an attitude or feeling of confidence in the abilities possessed so that the individual concerned is not too anxious in every action, can be free to do what he likes and be responsible for all actions done. In addition, it can be to encourage yourself to expand social relationships properly and healthily. The study population of 125 students consisted of 4 classes, each class ranged from 30-35 students. The sampling technique uses saturated samples. The measuring tools used in the study were the confidence scale and the social adjustment scale. Based on the results of the prerequisite test, the data normality test is declared abnormally distributed (0.00 < 0.05), but the data linearity test is declared linear (0.142 < 0.05), so the researcher will test the data using spearman's rank correlation, a non-parametric statistical analysis. Sig. (2-tailed) values of 0.000 < 0.05 which means there is a significant (meaningful) relationship between self-confidence and social adjustment.
