Abstract
Films always have a unique way of conveying a message through visual means. As a result, films have become a closer and more effective medium for society to receive messages. Given the phenomenon of crime leading to the emergence of new crimes occurring more frequently in society, many films address this issue in their narratives. Therefore, this research focuses on analyzing the portrayal of the reality of "violence breeds violence" in the film "All I Want," with the aim of understanding the results of semiotic analysis of this reality. The research method employed is qualitative, within a constructivist paradigm. The unit of analysis in this study is the entire film "All I Want" as the object of investigation. Data analysis in this research utilizes Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis, which emphasizes the search for meanings in denotation, connotation, and myth. The findings obtained by the researcher regarding the reality of "violence breeds violence" in the film "All I Want" reveal the representation of the following elements within Ida's dark story: 1) Courageous Decision-Making Attitude, 2) Representation of Inner Satisfaction through Revenge, 3) Emotions Linked to Past Memories, and 4) Motivation for Committing Crimes Driven by Emotional Pressure. The conclusion of this research is that the short film "All I Want" is a depiction of the real condition that still happens a lot around us, namely violence-breed violence.
