Abstract

ABSTRACT Film is a mass media that is a picture of a reality that occurs in people's lives. Like in the movie "Kukira Kau Rumah" which gives an overview of bipolar mental health disorder. This study aims to analyze how the description of bipolar disorder in the film "Kukira Kau Rumah" is portrayed. In this research technique using John Fiske's semiotics which contains aboutThe Codes of Television, where film is a text that is studied through three stages of level, namely the level of reality, the level of representation, and the level of ideology. The writer analyzes the signs that represent bipolar disorder. The writer takes the character of Niskala in the film "Kukira Kau Rumah" as a research object for the study of representation. This type of research uses descriptive qualitative, where the researcher describes how the level of reality, the level of representation, and the level of ideology on the character Niskala in the film "Kukira Kau Rumah". Each phase of Niskala's bipolar disorder is presented through a description at each level. The result of this study is that the representation of bipolar disorder is very clear. In this case the representation of bipolar disorder can be related to how film is an effective medium for providing education and information to the public about the mental health of bipolar disorder itself. Seperti dalam film “Kukira Kau Rumah” yang memberikan gambaran mengenai gangguan kesehatan mental bipolar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa bagaimana gambaran dari gangguan bipolar dalam film “Kukira Kau Rumah”. Dalam teknik penelitian ini menggunakan semiotika John Fiske yang berisi tentang The Codes of Television, film merupakan teks yang dikaji melalui tiga tahapan level yaitu level realitas, level representasi, dan level ideologi. Penulis menganalisis tanda yang merepresentasikan gangguan bipolar. Penulis mengambil karakter Niskala dalam film “Kukira Kau Rumah” sebagai objek penelitian kajian representasi. Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan deskriptif kualitatif, dalam hal ini peneliti mendeskripsiskan bagaimana level realitas, level representasi, dan level ideologi pada karakter Niskala dalam film “Kukira Kau Rumah”. Setiap fase gangguan bipolar yang dialami Niskala disajikan melalui deskripsi disetiap levelnya. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah representasi dari gangguan bipolar terlihat sangat jelas. Dalam hal ini representasi gangguan bipolar dapat berkaitan dengan bagaimana film menjadi media yang efektif untuk memberikan edukasi dan informasi kepada masyarakat mengenai kesehatan mental gangguan bipolar itu sendiri.
