Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of knowing the relationship between social support and self-concept with assertive behavior in adolescents at orphanages. This study uses a correlational quantitative method. The subjects in this study were 43 adolescents at the Al-Kahfi orphanage. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. The data collection method uses a Likert scale or questionnaire model. Measuring tools used are social support scale, self-concept and assertive behavior. Simultaneous correlation test between social support (X1) and self-concept (X2) with assertive behavior (Y) obtained significance = 0.004 (P <0.01). This means that simultaneously social support and self-concept have a relationship to assertive behavior. With an R Square score of 0.237 it can be concluded that social support and self-concept simultaneously have a 23% influence on assertive behavior. Meanwhile, 77% is influenced by other variables. The results of this study answer hypothesis 3 whose results explain that the first hypothesis has a positive relationship between social support and assertive behavior, the second hypothesis has a positive relationship between self-concept and assertive behavior and the third hypothesis has a relationship between social support and self-concept with assertive behavior.
