Abstract
The automotive sector in Indonesia is a very important sector in the development of the manufacturing industry because many car manufacturing factories were established in Indonesia by world-renowned car companies. In addition, another reason is because Indonesia is no longer only a company that is only able to assemble cars to be sent abroad but Indonesia has been able to become a country with a large enough market share due to increased gross domestic product (GDP). However, in 2020 the Indonesian economy experienced a downturn as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. During the pandemic, several automotive factories temporarily suspended their operations. In addition, there was also the cancellation of the automotive exhibition due to the stipulation of Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB). The purpose of the research to be achieved is to predict the company's financial difficulties using the Altman Z-Score in automotive sub-sector companies in 2019-2021. This research is qualitative research using a descriptive approach method. The data used in this study is secondary data, namely financial statement data for automotive sub-sector companies for 2019-2021. The data analysis method used in this study is the Altman Z-Score method by calculating five ratios including the ratio of Working Capital to Total Asset (X1), the ratio of Retained Earnings to Total Assets (X2), the ratio of EBIT to Total Assets (X3), the ratio of Market Value of Equity to Book Value of Total Liabilities (X4), and the ratio of Sales to Total Assets (X5). The results showed that during 2019-2021 there were 4 companies in safe zone conditions, namely PT. Garuda Metalindo Tbk, PT. Indospring Tbk, PT. Multi Prima Sejahtera, and PT. Congratulations. 2 companies are in grey zone conditions, namely PT. Astra Internasional Tbk and PT. Astra Otoparts Tbk. 3 companies are in the distress zone condition, namely PT. Gajah Tunggal Tbk, PT. Indomobil Sukses Internasional Tbk, and PT. PT. Prima Alloy Steel Universal Tbk. As for PT. Indo Kordsa Tbk in 2019 was in a safe zone condition, in 2020 it was in a gray zone condition, and in 2021 it was in a safe zone condition. PT. Goodyear Indonesia Tbk in 2019 was in a grey zone condition, in 2020 it was in a distress zone condition, and in 2021 it was in a grey zone condition. While PT. Multistrada Arah Sarana Tbk in 2019 was in a distress zone condition, in 2020 it was in a gray zone condition, and in 2021 it was in a safe zone condition.
