Abstract

This research examines cyberbullying practices that occur in cyber media, to be precise on social media TikTok on the @chikakiku account. Social media provides a free space to be actively involved in the media content creation process. Content creation from users or User Generated Content is even the main feature of social media, which distinguishes social media from analog media such as television or radio. Instead of being a productive place for providing useful information, social media often becomes a hotbed for negative content circulating, such as cyberbullying. One of the cases of cyberbullying which then needs to be observed is the cyberbullying case that occurred on the social media TikTok experienced by Chandrika Chika or Chika, through the account @chikakiku. The features owned by TikTok then contributed to the bullying case that occurred against Chika, two oblique issues that made Chika the limit of content in this research. Researchers use the theory of CMC (Computer Mediated Communication) and the theory of active media audiences as a guideline for analysis in this study. The researcher uses a qualitative descriptive research type with a virtual ethnographic study approach, cyber media variant analysis. Data collection techniques using participant observation, interviews, documentation in the form of screenshots. In data analysis techniques using data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that at the media document level there are several features of TikTok that can contribute to the Chika cyberbullying case. At the media document level, there are three types of cyberbullying that occur in the comments column of Chika's TikTok account. At the media object level, there are two interactions that occur, namely, the interaction that occurs between the bullies in the form of verbal communication and the interaction that occurs between Chika and the bullies in the form of verbal and non-verbal communication. At the final level, namely experience, it was found that the motives underlying the informants in cyberbullying Chika started because the emergence of statements that were interpreted by the public could corner Chika.
