Abstract
The Korean drama Hush is a drama directed by Choi Gyu-Shik and Kim Jung-Min as a writer. The scenario for the drama Hush is an adaptation of a 2018 novel entitled Silence Warning by Jung Jin-Young. Drama Hush tells the story of a newspaper reporter and his daily life. This study aims to determine whether there is an influence from Hush's drama on students' interest in becoming journalists. The researcher uses the uses and effect theory with the variable adjusted to Hush's impressions as a variable (X), which is classified as an indicator of message content and appeal. Also, students' interest in becoming journalists (Y) is classified as an indicator of cognitive aspects and affective aspects. The analysis technique used is the classical assumption technique and simple linear regression analysis. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling using 74 research respondents. After testing the simple linear regression, the equation Y: 2.287 + 1.08X is produced. The results of the Hush drama show correlation test on students' interest in becoming journalists were 0.891. This shows that variable X has an influence on variable Y. Keywords: Journalism, Hush drama, uses and effect theory.
