Abstract

This study aims to determine the framing of the news on the Pertamina Plumpang storage Fire tragedy which was carried out by the Kompas TV mass media for the period 07 - 09 March 2023 and also to find out that the Kompas TV media presents educational ideology in the reporting. The reason for choosing in the March period was that this news became the main topic discussed in every mass media regarding the Pertamina Plumpang storage Fire. This research was conducted using a qualitative approach using Robert N. Entman's framing analysis method through its four elements, namely: defining the problem, estimating the causes of the problem, making moral decisions, emphasizing resolution. The results of this study indicate that the framing of the Kompas TV mass media news regarding the Pertamina Plumpang storage Fire Tragedy does not only focus on the material losses of community victims and discussions on who was the cause in this tragedy case. But Kompas TV also framed the news from another point of view, namely raising the educational side that occurred after the Pertamina Plumpang storage Fire Tragedy. Kompas TV broadcasts several efforts made by figures or agencies in Indonesia who are making efforts to educate children so they can get rid of the trauma they feel.
