Abstract
There are various types of movies or drama series that convey messages related to equality issues. The concept of equality is interpreted variously by society. According to Locke, it is argued that all human beings have the same natural right to selfownership and freedom. This meaning states that humans, regardless of their differences, should be considered equal to each other. However, the reality is that issues of inequality still occur in society. This research discusses the drama series Extraordinary Attorney Woo, which discusses the first autism lawyer in South Korea, which features issues of equality. This research aims to reveal how the narrative of equality is depicted in the Extraordinary Attorney Woo drama series. This research uses Algirdas Greimas' narrative analysis method with a functional model. The results showed that there are 3 stages: (1) Initial situation, in episode 1 which shows Woo being accepted at Hanbada and in episode 10, about Woo's trust in his client, (2) Transformation, in episode 1 which shows Woo overcoming obstacles with his intelligence and in episode 10 Woo gets discrimination but she continues to be enthusiastic about handling her case, (3) Final situation, in episode 1 Woo managed to gain Jung's trust by winning her first case and in episode 10, although Woo did not succeed in winning her case, but she succeeded in showing that people with disabilities have the right to love and be loved. Based on these stages, there is the most dominant narrative of equality, namely that people with disabilities have the right to get opportunities in various ways such as opportunities in the world of work, get the opportunity to have opinions and speak, get opportunities in romantic relationships, and have the right to live like people in general without being underestimated.
