Abstract

Academic resilience is an individual's ability to survive, rise and be able to adapt in difficult and stressful situations in the academic field. Many final year students who are writing their thesis tend to feel burdened and feel unable to face various obstacles in the preparation of their thesis. Optimism is a person's view as a whole in seeing and thinking that provides positive motivation, so that it comes out of the form of all obstacles that hinder it. Self-efficacy is an individual's belief in his own ability to overcome obstacles to achieve the goals to be achieved. This study aims to determine the relationship between optimism and self-efficacy with academic resilience in final year students. The subjects of this study were 132 psychology students at the University of 17 August 1945 Surabaya who were preparing their thesis. The instruments in this study used the optimism scale, self-efficacy scale and academic resilience scale. The analysis of this study uses multiple regression analysis. The results showed that final year students who were writing their thesis had an attitude of optimism and self-efficacy towards academic resilience contributing 60.2% in a positive direction. This research is expected to contribute to describing the attitude of optimism and self-efficacy with academic resilience in final year students in preparing their thesis.
