Abstract

In order to revive the tourism and creative economy sector, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy or the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Kemenparekraf or Baparekraf) encourages the development of health tourism, namely wellness tourism and herbal tourism in Indonesia. In Mojokerto Regency, there is a tour with the name Bukit Kayoe Putih Tourism. This tour is a tour that is branded as eucalyptus educational tour, namely processing eucalyptus trees into essential oils. The incompatibility of the existing tourism conditions with the branding that is carried makes tourist attractions require a review. This includes the absence of educational facilities for essential oil processing and the implementation of building and landscape materials that are not in accordance with the character of the surrounding environment. Based on the tourist location and surrounding socio-cultural conditions, this tour has the potential to be developed as herbal tourism to strengthen the tourism identity. After evaluating the existing tourism conditions, this report is intended to provide solutions and accommodate other tourism potentials by applying existing concepts supported by the right approach. The descriptive-qualitative method was carried out in research using data collection techniques, namely direct observation and interviews as well as related literature review. Then it was concluded that the concept of thematic herbal tourism supported by an ecological architectural approach can overcome problems and answer existing potentials with design results that can improve environmental quality and be sustainable.
