Abstract

This study aims to provide an overview of television journalists' perceptions of violations of the Journalistic Code of Ethics that occur in the Indonesian broadcasting world. The theory used in this study is Perception Theory According to Deddy Mulyana, in which this theory divides into 2 factors, namely Internal and External Factors. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The data obtained comes from interviews with researchers who have been selected and have extensive knowledge of the world of journalism, so that the data obtained is actual. The technique used in data collection uses the theory of triangulation, which is a technique for checking the validity of data that utilizes something other than the data for checking purposes or as a comparison of the data. The data collection used interview techniques, observation and in-depth documentation of the perceptions of television journalists, which took place at the Tuban Journalist Center. This research uses Primary and Secondary data sources, Primary data includes informant interview data while Secondary data includes the place or location of the informant works. The object of this research is the Tuban Journalist Center. This study describes the perceptions of television journalists towards violations of the Journalistic Code of Ethics committed by one of the television media in Indonesia. The results of this study indicate that the conclusion that the three cases regarding television programs that violate the Journalistic Code of Ethics are influenced by 2 factors, namely Internal Factors and External Factors. Internal factors include weaknesses, lack of understanding of the Journalistic Code of Ethics, lack of correction from the editor, and even the journalist is still a beginner. Meanwhile, External Factors include factors jostling with deadlines, natural factors, and coincidence factors. Keyword : Journalist, Television, Violation, Code of Ethics, Broadcasting
