Abstract

Communication activities are very important in trading activities, this is the essence of the interaction between humans and their environment, collectors will communicate with farmers when they are in contact, trade is essentially an activity. It is impossible if there is trading but there is no activity in it, including communication activities. The emergence of interaction with farmers certainly makes farmers feel cared for and understood so that communication will arise between the two parties. Communication that occurs will be one of the factors in influencing a positive relationship. Interpersonal communication is considered effective for changing attitudes, beliefs, and human perspectives compared to other types of communication. The purpose of this study was to determine the interpersonal communication activities of collectors in maintaining good relations with farmers. Researcher uses social exchange theory from Thibaut and Kelley. In this study, this theory explains that the relationship between individuals and other individuals is described as an economic exchange, each party expects a reward for the costs incurred. Research using descriptive qualitative method. Sources of data obtained by using interview techniques, observation and documentation. Determination of research subjects using purposive sampling technique. Data analysis used triangulation techniques, namely data reduction, data presentation, verification and drawing conclusions. Based on the data obtained in the interactions that occur between collectors and farmers, it is reflected that each party needs and is needed by each other, so collectors and farmers build a mutually beneficial relationship by developing the quality of their communication so that the relationship is well established. established. established. between the two parties went well.
