Abstract

Pembentukan komposit matriks logam dapat dilakukan dengan berbagai cara, salah satu di antaranya pembentukan dengan metode metalurgi serbuk. Metalurgi serbuk merupakan salah satu metode pembuatan komposit berbasis serbuk yang diawali proses pencampuran, kompaksi dan proses sintering. Pada penelitian ini menganalisis efek pengaruh variasi tekanan dan persentase SiC terhadap nilai densitas dan kekerasan pada paduan Al-SiC menggunakan metode metalurgi serbuk. Bahan yang digunakan aluminium sebagai matriks dan silikon karbida sebagai penguat. Spesimen yang dibuat menggunakan variasi penambahan komposisi SiC sebesar 4%, 8%, 12% dengan waktu pengadukan 5 menit kemudian spesimen menggunakan variasi tekanan kompaksi yang diberikan sebesar 4000 Psi, 5000 Psi, 6000 Psi dengan waktu tahan 10 menit dan suhu sintering 400°C dengan waktu tahan 120 menit. Dari hasil pengujian densitas didapatkan hasil nilai densitas tertinggi pada penambahan 12% SiC dengan tekanan kompaksi 6000 Psi sebesar 2,998 gr/cm3 dan nilai terendah terdapat pada penambahan 4% SiC dengan tekanan kompaksi 4000 Psi sebesar 2,951 gr/cm3. Dari hasil pengujian kekerasan didapatkan nilai kekerasan tertinggi pada penambahan 12% SiC sebesar 61,06 HRB dengan tekanan kompaksi 6000 Psi dan nilai terendah terdapat pada penambahan 4% SiC dengan tekanan kompaksi 4000 Psi sebesar 38,06 HRB. Hal ini disebabkan semakin banyak penambahan komposisi SiC dan semakin besar tekanan yang diberikan, semakin tinggi nilai densitas dan kekerasannya
